Responsible Gaming Guide

At Novig, responsible gaming means that we support our customers in ensuring safe, responsible gambling so that informed decisions can be made.

Warning Signs of Problem Gaming

We recommend that the following principles are followed so that gambling is purely a source of entertainment and does not result in any problems:

  • Remember that gambling is only for entertainment and does not represent a source of income
  • Set yourself a limit and do not wager more than you’re prepared to spend on entertainment
  • Never wager money that you need for subsistence and for fulfilling financial obligations
  • Do not take out loans and do not borrow money from other sources for gambling
  • Plan how much time you would like to spend on gambling
  • Stick to these plans regardless of whether you win or lose
  • Do not gamble if you are unfocused or under the influence of alcohol or medication. Take frequent breaks
  • Do not gamble to help distract from disputes, disappointments, frustrations or problems
  • Do not neglect your social environment, and take any reactions from your partner, family members, friends and work colleagues seriously
  • Do not play in secret and do not neglect other hobbies

The following are warning signs that may indicate when a person may be experiencing problem gaming.

  • Gambling to escape worry or trouble
  • Gambling to get money to solve financial difficulties
  • Unable to stop playing regardless of winning or losing
  • Gambling until the last dollar is gone
  • Losing time from work due to gambling
  • Borrowing money to pay gambling debts
  • Neglecting family because of gambling
  • Lying about time and money spent gambling

If you have experienced any of the above warning signs, please consider the problem gaming resources below.

Persons excluded from gaming are prohibited from:

  • Gambling at casinos
  • Placing sports wagers at on-site sportsbooks
  • Placing sports wagers at on-line sportsbooks

Persons on the exclusion may not participate or collect winnings from the gaming in Colorado on which they are prohibited. Players that self exclude shall not, while on the exclusion list, be able to redeem points, bonuses, comps or freeplay.

Individuals that self-exclude from gaming corporations that have gaming operations in other states may be included on their corporate exclusion list and may be included in other state exclusion programs. An individual self-excluding in Colorado shall be informed prior to being placed on a corporate exclusion list.

If you would like to self-exclude from gambling in Colorado, please visit the following link: https://sbg.colorado.gov/self-exclusion and follow the online enrollment process. Every voluntary exclusion will be active indefinitely, but additionally a minimum duration of (e.g. 1, 3, or 5 years) will be set during which you cannot revoke your decision.

Questions?
We have answers

What will be available when Novig launches in CO?

Exchange wagering is not currently approved. Until it is, Novig will operate as an Internet Sports Betting Operator. We’ll then transition to offering our full platform as soon as we get the green light from the regulators.

How will Novig make money without charging fees on trades?

We plan to shift the fundamental business model of the industry away from charging users indiscriminately to only charging the greatest winners on the platform. Until the new Exchange Regulations are passed we will primarily generate revenue by operating as an Internal Market Maker, but when we launch our full exchange, we plan to implement with regulatory approval a fee structure for users whose lifetime profits exceed $10,000 and we will begin to productize and monetize our proprietary research and trading models. This business model allows us to provide commission-free betting for the overwhelming majority of our users, while ensuring that our exchange is sufficiently liquid and sustainable.

What types of bets will be available on Novig?

Initially, Novig will support Moneyline, Spread, and Totals markets for MLB, NFL, NBA, NCAAF, and NCAAB matches, and Player Props for professional sports. We’re actively working to begin offering markets for NHL, soccer, tennis, golf, and other sports, as well as other types of bets in the sports we currently support. If there are certain markets you would like to see on Novig, please feel free to reach out at hi@novig.co.
